The Immaculate Reception of
St. Clare,
2006 30 x 10 x 3 inches, Hand-sewn beadwork on
canvas glass beads, thread, photo printed canvas,
canvas, cotton, polyester, television
This is St. Clare, the patron saint of television and
needle workers (it's true). Normally seen holding a
monstrance in her hands, here she holds a functioning 2.3 inch color
television. Her halo is an old TV test pattern. Prior to the conversion to digital TV, St.
Clare would receive a random channel when the set was turned
on. In some locations, it would just play static.
Since our conversion
to digital TV,
a thin vertical line constantly moves left to right across the
screen. |
